Rome, 1978. Italy was in the midst of one of the saddest chapters of its history. The complex world of the "anni di piombo" (referred to as the "lead years" because of rampant terrorism) is seen through the eyes of Chiara (Maya Sansa), a young terrorist who belongs to the armed brigade and is involved in the kidnapping of Aldo Moro (Roberto Herlitzka), President of the Christian Democrat Party. Her role as combatant is contrasted with her normal, everyday life: an office, a work, colleagues and a friend who understands her thoughts and actions better than she does.
